Registering a .FR domain has always been quite difficult if you are not a registered business or have a trademark valid in France.
However, on December 6th Afnic (the French Registry) will open the .FR extension and all other extensions it operates: (.fr, .re, .yt, .pm, .wf, and .tf) to European residents and businesses. This is of course good news if you have been trying to register a .FR but weren’t able to. On the other hand, brand protection is now becoming really important as this rule change can pose a ‘high risk’ for a third party registration.
