April International Domain Updates

Here’s a round-up of new Domain news from our Domain Name Management team.

.SA – Saudi Arabia Landrush

The Landrush application process for .SA opens on 2nd May 2011.  Local presence or a trade mark registered in Saudi Arabia is required, plus correspondence with a company name or with a trademark and a local Admin-c.  We can provide local Admin-c through our managed service and so please contact the Domain Name Management team directly.

.QA (Qatar) Still Closed

The Qatar registry is still undergoing management and policy changes and therefore will not be accepting any new registrations. It was initially scheduled to be until December 2010, however the registration product will remain disabled until the Registry reopens and announcements will be published with the new policy information.

.IQ (Iraq) Trademark Availability

Second Level Domains Are Now Available:  In order to register a second level domain name in Iraq, the domain owner must have a trademark registered in Iraq, or a company registered in Iraq.  The requested .IQ domain name must correspond to the trademark name or to the company name.  Get in touch and we can help you through the registration process.

.CO.NO General Availability Postponed Again

Please note that the General Availability phase for the sub-TLD .CO.NO has been postponed again indefinitely. The following notice has been released from the Registry:

“Ensuring the high standards we keep for co.no, our conversation with Norid is taking a bit more time. For this reason we unfortunately have to ask our partners for some more patience. We’ll be back with good news and a new launch date as soon as possible! Until that time the pre-registration possibility remains open.”.

If you want to register any of the above or learn more about our Managed Domain Services, get in touch with our Domain Name Management team at obp@names.co.uk , call 0845 363 6173 or arrange a call back.
