The winners will be announced at the prestigious event in London on 8th July 2010
Get Localised Internationally
If you own a .com or a .net Domain we can register it in any language you require, meaning that your customers can find you and truly connect with you whatever language they speak; so whether it’s Arabic or Chinese name characters, your customers will view your Domain name in the language they want.
In order to register an Internationalised Domain Name (IDN), the original name must first be converted into Punycode so that when your Domain name is viewed by customers they’ll see if represented in the right language. Some browsers are still in the process of being updated and will still show the Punycode, but this issue will shortly be resolved so now is the time to plan your registrations.
New Non Latin Domains
ICANN has published information regarding the addition of IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) ccTLDs to the root zone meaning non Latin characters will be available for Egypt, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates in Arabic as well as the Russian extension in Cirillic. It is also unknown at this time, how Registries will launch the registration process. ICANN’s official announcement stated:-
“For the first time in the history of the Internet, non-Latin characters are being used for top-level domains. The first IDN country-code top-level domains were inserted in the DNS root zone earlier today. The associated countries and their respective IDN ccTLDs are, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
New .TN Registration Requirement
At the end of the Sunrise and Landrush Period, the .TN Registry reintroduced a requirement that had been previously been abolished.
Those who wish to register a domain name in Tunisia, but who do not have an office in this country, will be required to provide evidence of their registration mark in Tunisia and will only be eligible to apply for a domain name similar or corresponding to that trademark.
It will also be necessary to have a local contact that Namesco can provide for you should you require it.
Register Chinese Character Domains in Singapore
The Sunrise Period dedicated to Chinese-characters .SG domains has now closed and from 10th of June 2010 the ‘first come first served’ period will open. A .SG domain name can be registered by any local or international entity, and is a great way to market your business in Singapore and abroad – an important gateway to the Asian market.
A Chinese Domain Name (CDN) is a domain name that contains one or more Chinese characters. Presently, domain names have been in Latin characters like abc.com.sg. CDNs allow for Chinese characters to be used within domain names.
