Two-character .BIZ Domain Name Auction
We are excited to bring you news about the unprecedented release of more than 1000 two- character .BIZ domain names.
Pool.com, a leading online marketplace for domain names, has teamed with Neustar, the global registry operator for the .BIZ domain, to release an invaluable set of short, memorable and extremely rare two-character .BIZ domains.
The auction named ‘TwoDotBiz” will release the rare domains in a phased release beginning November 30, 2009 through to February 2010.
The availability of these .BIZ domains marks the first time that a generic top-level domain (gTLD) registry has released so many two-character names.
77% of British consumers prefer .uk
According to a report released by Nominet (November 2009), the domain name registry for .uk domain names, 77% of British consumers prefer to use a .uk rather than a .com when searching for information on the Internet.
The report also indicates that despite the current economic climate, the global domain name industry has seen an 8% growth with 187.6 million domain names registered worldwide.
“Generic top level domains (gTLDs), such as .org and .com, have grown on average by 6% whilst the country code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs) including.uk and .de (the German registry) fared slightly better and together generated a 10% average growth in registrations,” says Nominet.
